What is Olaplex?

August 5, 2018

The question on everybody's lips at the moment,

What is olaplex? How does it work?

Olaplex is a bond multiplier containing a single active ingredient, Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate.

Olaplex works by finding single sulphur hydrogen bonds and cross linking them back together to form disulfide bonds before, during and after services. Disulfide bonds are broken via chemical, thermal and mechanical processes.

Which essentially means you break down bonds by colouring your hair, using heat and by mechanical force such a combing wet hair, olaplex will re build those bonds with the 5 part system.

Olaplex is free of silicone, sulfates, phthalates, DEA, aldehydes, and is never tested on animals.

There are 5 parts of the system;

Step 1 & 2 are in salon treatments

Step 3 is a take home treatment to use once a week

Step 4 is shampoo

Step 5 in conditioner

For extremely damaged hair try using the 3 part take home system and Step 1 & 2 in your colour service in the salon.
